About
My name is Obadiah Tarzan Greenberg. I work at UC Berkeley as product manager for webcast.berkeley — a site that provides free and public access to courses and events as webcasts and podcasts.
I was born and raised in San Francisco in 1970, the son of a beatnik zookeeper. This explains my name. My hippie childhood evolved into the 80's skate-punk scene of my adolesence. This may also explain my interest in publishing and DIY expression.
After graduating in 1992 in Creative Writing/Literature from UC Santa Cruz I moved to New York City. I got my start in publishing as a copyeditor, then editor, working on multimedia CD-ROM projects for Scholastic and Disney Interactive.
In the mid-90s I shifted to a web design firm doing scripting and graphic production for Fortune 500 companies. I started my own web design company in New Mexico before returning to the Bay Area in 2000 as producer for a dotcom before settling into my current role at UC Berkeley.
